We’re still basking in the warmth of wonderful memories from the day.
The week started with the official opening of our new building. The ribbon cutting was performed by both Her Excellency, the Canadian High Commissioner to Kenya, Sara Hradecky and His Excellency, the Governor of Kilfi County, Amason Kingi.
Surrounded by many friends and partners, we welcomed the two dignitaries, along with key government representatives from departments of education, youth and health as well as other local representatives from Malindi.
Despite the high level of protocol, we found our guests of honour extremely approachable, friendly and open, especially to the youth and students who were with us that day.
The High Commissioner and the Governor even sat at our computers to try their hand at the maths tutorials and colourful digital story books. They both remained for some time after the official event and humbly succumbed to a host of selfie poses as the students jostled for position and snapped their pics.
More than just good memories, the dignitaries delivered speeches offering partnership and collaboration and encouraging support for Elimu Resource Centre. The weeks and months ahead will show the fruit of what many have enthusiastically proclaimed a very successful event.
We thank God for the lovely sunshine, the many guests who supported us and an order of events that was almost flawless.
