It is said that if you focus on the good, the good gets better and in no doubt Elimu is geared towards making it bigger and better! It was with great pleasure that Elimu received the mandate of mobilizing the youth of Kilifi County for a forum on innovation, a project from the office of the president, working through the Ministry of Education to equip the youth with skills in innovation, youth leadership, entrepreneurship, agribusiness, the blue economy and climate change. His search for an authentic service provider truly connected with youth and their needs, led Mr. Mukhtar A. Ogle – Secretary, Strategic Initiatives Cabinet Affairs, from the executive office of the President of Kenya to Elimu Resource Centre. His request for our support for the forum was an assurance that indeed we are doing our job in the community – working with the youth to empower them to realize their full potential.

“We want to have innovative ideas, and that is why we came to Elimu Resource Centre, so that we can learn from you and of course by including participation from the public.”
It was a highly engaging forum – a dialogue between the youth and the facilitators to see the way forward on how Kilifi County can establish a functional, all-inclusive youth innovation centre with inspired young innovators – an initiative already underway at Elimu . The event was spearheaded by Mr. Ogle who encouraged the youth to be social change drivers and to exercise fairness and inclusivity in all platforms and to be dependable. The youth had a chance to share on issues affecting their development and later formulated a plan on how to move forward, be proactive and realize the dream of having their own Kilifi Youth Innovation and Empowerment Hub (KYIEH).
We were honored to receive Mr. Ogle and his team the following day at Elimu Resource Centre and had a very successful meeting full of wonderful insights from him. We were able to give him an in-depth understanding of what Elimu is all about and our offline eLearning innovation on the Kolibri software platform particularly caught his attention. He was equally touched by the story of our Elimu Girls Sewing Project and our future thriving entrepreneurs. He promoted their ragdoll project by buying two Pendo Artisan Ragdolls on the spot. What a great day full of lots of blessing this was! Thank you Mr. Ogle, we look forward to your next visit!
