Our first-ever Youth Info Forum was hosted 5th December 2018 at Elimu Resource Centre with around 142 high school graduates participating, 74 girls and 68 boys. The day offered advice and guidance on life after high school. Presenters included representatives from the Higher Education Loans Board (HELB) and Kenya Universities and Colleges Central Placement Service (KUCCPS) about how to research and register for college and university application; the registrar of persons office on applying for a national I.D. card; Ms. Ruth Epeni, the Deputy principal of Weru TVC, on vocational training opportunities and a number of guests who did career talks based on their careers.
Youth is happy because it has the capacity to see beauty.
Anyone who keeps the ability to see beauty never grows old.
The event was inspired, designed and implemented by two creative Elimu interns: Cynthia and Claudia who also hosted the day with Cynthia acting as M.C.
Special guest Mr. Mwangome, Director Gender and Youth Affairs, Kilifi County, ended the lineup of speakers engaging the youth present on the topic of transformation and information for change.
The event was the first of its kind in Malindi and Kilifi County and we hope to bring it back as an annual event and eventually scale it to other locations so that young people leaving high school can get find all the information and resources they need to start planning their futures with the confidence that comes from being well informed.
