Elimu’s conference hall was the venue of choice today for a training seminar for the student leaders of Barani High School. The largest public high school in the region, it has also been a source of many students to our digital libraries. Over 50, young leaders gathered with several of their teachers including the two deputy principals who took time from their busy schedules to speak and to listen to these youth. Among the achievements for the day was what they’ve called the “Elimu Declaration”, a series of proposals and requests from the students to their teachers that will support them in their important role as leaders at the school.
Remember that the happiest people are not those getting more, but those giving more.
Our founder, Nina Chung, was honoured to be given the chance to address the students and share her thoughts on leadership. She concluded by reminding the students, that though they are often referred to as the leaders of tomorrow, they are in fact already leaders today and with a little focus and consideration, are poised to make a significant impact in their own communities right now.
This is the type of event Elimu Resource Centre is proud to support and encourage. We want teachers and students to see the Centre as their place for learning, sharing and gaining skills. The event was a blessing to all involved.
